Types of Civil Engineering Projects

Arguably the oldest discipline in engineering, civil engineering has many categories that include structural engineering, environmental engineering and transportation engineering.  This engineering discipline deals with projects like the designing and building of roads, bridges, airports, subway systems and railroads.  However, there are less visible projects done by civil engineers that are not readily recognized by many people.  For example, this category of engineers is responsible for the water that comes through the faucet.  After the water has served its purpose, environmental engineering takes care of its recycling or disposal.

These engineers are also involved in the aerospace industry where they design space stations and jetliners.  In the automotive industry, they enhance the crashworthiness of doors and bumpers.  They also perfect load-carrying chassis capacity.  In addition, they can be found in many other industries, including the power and building industries.  They also take on the role of construction managers to plan and oversee the building of the facilities they design. More information can be gathered here.

Safety and reliability are two vital aspects of this engineering discipline.  This ensures the structural integrity of these facilities.
